Russell Family Dentistry is a practice that cares deeply about our patients, community, and smiles! For this reason, our family joined friends, patients, and colleagues at an open-house to welcome Emily Russell DDS back home to practice dentistry! Leading the team at Russell Family Dentistry is Dr. Joe Russell, DDS. An accomplished Dentist with over 40 years of experience serving the Solon community and surrounding area. Trained in excellence by her father, Dr. Emily Russell, DDS returns to Russell Family Dentistry to practice after completing her studies at The Ohio State University. She earned her B.S. in Biological Engineering in 2019 and continued her education at Ohio State's College of Dentistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2023. Emily is a young and talented dentist as well as a proud graduate of Solon High School. The morning of the open house was filled with laughter, games and prizes! In the spirit of giving back and spreading joy, the Russell family decided on a unique sweet-treat to give out; cookies! These edible works of art aren't just tasty, they're a token of our appreciation for the warm welcome Emily received upon her return. Each cookie is lovingly crafted with intricate details and dental-themed designs. From toothpaste tubes to smiling teeth, our cookies are a blend of creativity and style! We've included our contact information on each cookie, a small reminder that we're always here for you.
The Connection Between Dental Health and Sweet Treats: While we savor the sweetness of Dental Cookies, we want to remind you of the crucial link between dental health and your overall well-being. Did you know that taking care of your dental health can positively impact your overall health? Here's a little food for thought: After the Treat, Don’t Forget to Brush! We encourage everyone to maintain good oral hygiene practices, especially after enjoying sweets. Sugar can feed harmful bacteria in your mouth, leading to cavities and gum problems. Remember to brush your teeth gently for at least two minutes, especially after a sugary treat! The Magic of Flossing! Flossing is like a superhero for your teeth. It reaches places your toothbrush can't, removing food particles and plaque buildup between your teeth. Daily flossing helps prevent gum disease and keeps your smile bright. Mouthwash Marvels! Mouthwash is another ally in your quest for excellent oral health. Rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash after brushing and flossing to help kill harmful bacteria, refresh your breath, and strengthen your teeth. Regular Check-ups! Just like our Dental Cookies, regular dental check-ups are a treat for your oral health. They allow us to catch and address dental issues early, ensuring your smile stays healthy and bright. Our Dental Cookies are making appearances all over Solon! You'll find us at community events, local fairs and shops. The response from our community has been heartening, and we're delighted to give back. At Russell Family Dentistry our priority is making everyone smile!

The dental industry is constantly evolving, and a new generation of passionate, dedicated professionals is entering the field, ready to make their mark. As we welcome these fresh faces to the world of dentistry, it's essential to understand how their motivation and unique perspectives contribute to improving patient care and the overall advancement of the profession.
Recently, we had the opportunity to interview a recent graduate from The Ohio State University's College of Dentistry, Dr. Emily Russell (Summa Cum Laude), who embodies the qualities of this new generation of dentists. Emily’s story provides inspiring insight into her journey and exemplifies thought leadership in the dental industry. With a background in engineering and a passion for helping others, she chose to focus on dentistry after witnessing the powerful impact of long-term patient relationships. Emily was inspired by her father's (Dr. Joseph Russell) dental practice (Russell Family Dentistry), where patients are treated like family, and there is an emphasis on building trust and open communication. This human-centered approach has shaped how they view patient care, ensuring their patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment. During her time at Ohio State, Emily received specialized training and clinical experience that set her apart from their peers. She was exposed to various treatments, including restorations (fillings), extractions, periodontal surgeries, and prosthetic procedures including crowns, dentures and veneers while serving in need populations. This hands-on experience has given Emily a solid foundation to provide exceptional patient care. Emily’s passion for dentistry, from emergency care to cosmetic procedures, drives her to continuously expand her skills and knowledge. She has a particular interest in extractions, root canals, and cosmetic dentistry, which allows her to cater to a wide range of patient needs. Emily also recognizes the importance of staying up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry and plans to pursue continuing education, engage in outreach programs, and network with specialists to ensure that she is at the forefront of her field. When asked if there is any advice she would give to young dental students, Emily was passionate about mentorship as a critical part of their journey. She believes that finding a mentor who possesses exceptional dental skills and embodies the qualities they admire is crucial for success. This includes their mentor's lifestyle, how they treat people, and their commitment to excellence. The future of dentistry is promising, with young professionals like Dr. Emily Russell leading the way. As the new generation embraces the importance of long-term patient relationships, specialized training, and continuous learning, the dental industry will continue to grow and evolve. As a final note, we want to remind our readers that the health of your mouth is closely connected to the health of your body. Prioritizing your oral health and engaging in open conversations with your dentist about your concerns and needs is crucial. As this new generation of dentists proves, the future of dental care is brighter than ever. Dr. Emily Russell and Russell Family Dentistry are always looking to build new, long-term relationships and are now accepting patients.
